Pythagoras: the hypotenuse

🏅 92/100

A right-angled triangle has legs of 6 cm and 8 cm. How long is the hypotenuse?

10 cm
12 cm
14 cm
Nice one! 🎉 6² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100, and √100 = 10 cm.

Made by one home-educating family

Learning Hub isn't a big-company product. It's built by one off-grid, home-educating family in the UK — for our own children first. The games exist because our son asked for them. The worked solutions exist because “wrong, try again” teaches nothing. The parent controls exist because we use them ourselves, every day. Everything here survived our kitchen table before it reached yours.

Why the reading support exists

In 1989, when I was seven, an educational psychologist wrote that I was “a boy of well above average general intelligence who is really well over two or more years behind in his school work”. I was severely dyslexic, and back then that meant sitting at the back, quietly falling further behind.

So the coloured backgrounds, the wider letter spacing, the reading ruler, the read-aloud that highlights every word as it says it, the extra time on exams — none of that is a tick-box. It's the help I wish someone had handed me. If your child is bright and still struggling, I promise you they are not lazy and they are not thick. They just need it put in front of them differently.
